Art/Culture of Aztecs
As you may know already, there were hundreds of different tribes like the Aztec long before Aztec Empire rose. So you can say that their art and culture have been influenced by those tribes which have been before.
At times when the tribes existed, the paintings, sculptures, and beautiful things they have created were not really called 'art'. Only few tribes had local words for 'art'. One example of the tribe is Toltecs. The Toltecs had many massive, beautiful statues of gods. This has possibly influenced the Aztec art the most.
The Aztecs had an appreciation for a wide variety of insects, birds, fish, and animals, meaning that they made sculptures, carvings, and other art-related things in the shapes of fish, animals, insects, and etc. They also created lots of art of human, just like the vase on the left side. You can clearly see the human face and some human features.
The Aztecs had not just the sculptures and carvings and paintings, but also colorful clothings, architecture, ceremonial knives, and head dresses. The king of the empire would wear fancy, shiny dresses with colorful feathers on their head.
